ETAD 802 - History of Educational Technology

By far my favourite class of the program, it's topics are diverse and intense but the discussion and learning potential is amazing.

  • The value of ETAD 802 lies not only in the learning of concepts but with the diverse learners that make up the community of practice.  The overwhelmingly positive learning environment was carefully inspired through genuine interactions, sharing of personal stories and the invitation to step away from being right or wrong and dig deeper into the reflective conversation.  Not because you had to but because you love to learn and there were so many thoughtful perspectives to learn from.  Taking a group of mostly strangers and uniting them in intense discussion created a learning network that is more than likely to survive long passed the end of this course or our Master’s journey, which in the end is the true value of education.

  • The entire ETAD program has helped us increase and refine our connoisseurship skills not only in the area of edtech but rather in how we see the world around us.  There are parts of this class and program that are completely new and others that we are revisiting again.  The developing ETAD student connoisseur enables to have a greater appreciation for how things came to be and our potential to move beyond.  It’s to see the world we know again as if for the first time.

Every time you pass by a concept again you bring a different perspective and if you keep an open mind each time you pass you will add something new to your understanding of the world.  It just depends what you are ready for....
